Are you considering to join our Young Artists courses this summer? Would you like to suggest this to a young person in your family or circle of friends? Here are some first-hand insights that may help you to make your decision.

Young blogger jakescott175, who joined the programme for 13-15-year-olds this April, shares his experiences on the course online featuring images of artwork he created during his days at the Academy and thoughts on how he liked the exercises and atmosphere in his group.

Young Artists is an exciting five day course for ages 13-15 taking place during Easter and Summer holidays. There is also a range of exciting courses for ages 16-18. The programme provides high level art tuition including drawing workshops, contemporary painting, specialist sculpture techniques, and using experimental media. Jake particularly enjoyed “collecting rubbings and doing collaging and having a different approach to art.”

With the last day being dedicated to the participants’ individual projects there is plenty of room for the exploration of personal interests – just take a look at jakescott175‘s brilliant David Bowie collage and the design proposals for his ‘punk fairies’.

One of the main goals of our Young Artists programme is to strengthen young people’s confidence in creative expression through providing a focused and supportive environment. jakescott154 confirms that “people on the course were really lovely and the company of other artists was really inspirational.”

We were glad to hear that Jake “loved travelling up to London everyday and embracing the art lifestyle!”
