As we are holed up for the dark cold winter it can be hard to find inspiring settings to draw from life. This is where photographs come in; they broaden our radius of inspiration far beyond our immediate surroundings but it can be hard to make satisfying drawings from them. During this course you will explore a range of ways to work from and with photographs. This NEW course explores a range of ways to work from and with photographs. You will learn techniques that will help you draw with accuracy and breathe life into your drawings as well as being given a chance to experiment with the types of drawings you want to create.
Sometimes you will need physical copies of the photographs you want to work from (please see component sheet for details). If you don’t have access to a printer you may want to cut some out of newspapers or magazines. You don’t need to work from your own photographs however we would recommend trying to snap photographs in the week running up to the course of people/scenes/objects that inspire you.
