Collagraphs are made by collaging onto, and cutting into, a thin cardboard surface. Many interesting textures can be used to build up plates including, textured tapes/paper/fabrics, glue, carborundum grit and even leaves. Plates can be printed both in intaglio or relief and as a multi-plate print. You will learn how to create a variety of textures, how to use chine collé (experimenting with thin surfaces) to overlay colour and register two plates on top of each other. You will come away with a small edition of colourful prints and expand your knowledge of a process that is both an exciting and affordable form of printmaking.
This course is suitable for all levels.
