I paint primarily using brushes and knives to apply oil paint to canvas. The subjects I chose are often isolated objects: a tree, a cup, a face. This helps heightens the sense of our connection and isolation with the world around us. I continuously add and subtract paint until a satisfactory outcome is achieved. The conclusion is often only achieved after a period of time away from the work. I work from photographs, life and memory; All, in my opinion are equal, the work’s outcome being all that ultimately matters. Everything around us is relevant for study. Inspiration, beauty and truth reside in being able to see things anew.
