Printmaking Classes

We offer a range of classes for all abilities and our superb central London location means we are easily accessible from in and out of London. We have a great choice of courses for people with different levels of experience, all of which are taught by our expert tutors in our fully equipped Print Studio.

Numbers in the class are kept to a maximum of 10 so that the tutor has plenty of time to go around and speak to each student individually through each class, as well as teaching the group as a whole.

Please note, our courses are only suitable and available for students 18 years old and above. We have a variety of courses specifically designed for under 18’s as part of our Young Artists programme.

Open Access Print Studio

Use our Print Studio to work on your own projects. Our studio is equipped with:

Two presses – bed size 70 x 140 cm and 80 x 160 cm
Hotplates
Acids
UV exposure unit
Aquatint box
Copper sulphate and Ferric Chloride etching

Wednesday: 6.30pm – 9.30pm (weekly)

Saturday: 10am – 2pm & 2pm – 6pm (specific weekends when other courses are not running)

Open Access costs: £25 per session (includes cleaning sundries)

Etching Hardground and Softground. This popular course is ideal for beginners or repeat attendees.You will concentrate on hard-ground (fine line) combined with soft-ground (texture) in its various forms. You'll develop a composition through multi-etching a zinc plate in a mordant of saline sulphate. This course is flexible, allowing you to work at your own speed - and if you've attended this course before, you can work on your own individual etching projects. The course fee covers materials including two polished zinc etching plates. Open Access runs on Wednesday evening and Saturday during the day, giving you the opportunity to further develop your printmaking skills. The studio is a low-toxic environment with dedicated printmaking facilities for professional hands-on learning. Students benefit from the diversity of attendees, taught by internationally renowned printmaking artists at a central location, offering a unique educational experience in London.
