This NEW course is ideal for beginners as well as more experienced printmakers. During the six sessions, you will experiment with different relied printmaking techniques, such as linocut and woodcut. In the first three sessions, you will learn to carve a linoleum plate to develop a series of reduction relief prints in multiple colour combinations. The final weeks of the course will focus on creating a multi-plate print edition by carving Japanese plywood plates. Relief printing focuses on form and texture; you will learn to combine the tone, hue and saturation of multiple colours to achieve an edition of prints on archival Italian paper.
Open Access runs on Wednesday evening and Saturday during the day, giving you the opportunity to further develop your printmaking skills.
The studio is a low-toxic environment with dedicated printmaking facilities for professional hands-on learning. Students benefit from the diversity of attendees, taught by internationally renowned printmaking artists at a central location, offering a unique educational experience in London.
