Each session will focus on a different theme and provide a wide range of techniques for beginners to get started.
Through various drawing approaches including still life, life drawing and portraiture, you will explore and learn:– Line & Tone to understand 3D forms
– Using colour
– Measurement and proportion
– Texture
– CompositionThere will be a life model in some sessions and students are encouraged to express themselves freely with guidance from the tutor. By the end of the course you will have gained a good understanding of the fundamentals of drawing, plan and compose your work, and develop your own personal appraoch to drawing.

Course Code: EC2302315 Tutor: Various tutors Course Dates: Fridays, 26th January - 22nd March 2024 Days: 8 Times: 6.30pm - 9.00pm Experience Level: Ages 18+, Beginner Fee: £280 Location: Art Academy London, 165A Mermaid Court, SE1 1HR Recommend booking before: Friday 5th January 2024 £280.00This course is an ideal way to explore a wide variety of artistic methods and media, learning new artistic skills, discovering what you enjoy most, and developing creative ideas. Over the course, students work across the different disciplines of painting, sculpture, drawing and printmaking. Throughout the course, students will have a chance to improve observational drawing skills, along with more expressive sculpture and painting. Students will also learn to approach the human figure through drawing, painting and sculpture, before rounding off the course with an introduction to printmaking. This is a great ‘taster’ course and an excellent opportunity to develop new skills, explore materials, and have fun.

Friday Open Life – Long Pose
Course Code: EC2302101 Tutor: Usva Inei Course Dates: Fridays, 26th January - 22nd March 2024 Days: 8 Times: 7.45pm - 9.15pm Experience Level: Ages 18+, All Levels Fee: £125 Location: Art Academy London, 165A Mermaid Court, SE1 1HR Recommend booking before: Friday 5th January 2024 From: £100.00The “Open Life Class – Long Pose” is a relaxed and enjoyable life drawing & painting course with a life model for various poses lasting between one and three weeks at a time.
Students will be able to approach the human figure in any way they please and do as many drawings or paintings as they care to pursue with as much or as little instruction as they like. Your experienced tutors will happily guide both beginners and the more experienced painters.
Students should feel free to use whichever materials they enjoy the most, whether that is drawing in charcoal or ink or painting in oils or acrylics. Cartridge paper is provided for the course but please bring your own drawing/painting materials.

The model will pose for short lengths of time, ranging from 1 minute – 20 minutes.
Students will be able to approach the human figure in any way they please and do as many drawings or paintings as they care to pursue with as much or as little instruction as they like. Your experienced tutors will happily guide both beginners and the more experienced painters.
