Students learn to see colour, shape and tone, and to relate all these elements together in compositions. Working through a series of exercises you will explore the following subjects:
– Tone
– Colour & Abstraction
– Paint application & texture
– Still life
– Portraits
– LanscapesYou will explore a more creative approach to painting whilst encouraging you to establish your own style and identity. You will also have the opportunity to paint from a life model, and complete your own personal projects. This course is a fun and relaxing experience, offering plenty of guidance from the tutor.

Over the course, students will explore:– Drawing from observation
– Memory and imagination
– Rhythm and movemenentYou will develop a deeper understanding of the drawing process and have time to enhance your drawing skills.
Each week focusses on a particular aspect of drawing. Students will explore measurement and gain confidence in drawing a wide variety of subjects including still life, life models, and urban landscapes. Through using different approaches and materials, students will begin to develop a ‘visual vocabulary’ of drawing. You will develop ways to communicate texture, weight, material and surface in your work.There will be opportunities to work both inside and outside the studio, and in museums and galleries. Working outside of the studio will teach students how to capture movement and figures in space, feeding off the energy of the environment around them. Students will work outside in the ‘real world’, and experience how this produces a different kind of energy in their drawings.
