Over the ten weeks, students work across the different disciplines of painting, sculpture, drawing and printmaking. Throughout the course, students will have a chance to improve observational drawing skills, along with more expressive sculpture and painting. Students will also learn to approach the human figure through drawing, painting and sculpture, before rounding off the course with an introduction to printmaking. This is a great ‘taster’ course and an excellent opportunity to develop new skills, explore materials, and have fun.

Relief Printing: Multiplate Woodcut
Course Code: EC2301PR14 Tutor: Jackie Smith Course Dates: Tuesdays, 31st October - 5th December Days: 6 Times: 6.00pm - 9.00pm Experience Level: All Levels Fee: £210 Location: Art Academy London, 165A Mermaid Court, SE1 1HR £210.00This popular course is ideal for beginners or repeat attendees. In Relief Printmaking Part 2, students will be carving Japanese plywood plates to create a multi-plate print edition. Relief printing focuses on form and texture; you will learn to combine the tone, hue and saturation of multiple colours to achieve an edition of prints on archival Italian paper. The course fee covers all materials needed. There is a maximum of ten students per course guided by one to one tutoring from an experienced printmaker.
Open Access runs on Wednesday evening and Saturday during the day, giving you the opportunity to further develop your printmaking skills.
The studio is a low-​toxic environment with dedicated printmaking facilities for professional hands-on learning. Students benefit from the diversity of attendees, taught by internationally renowned printmaking artists at a central location, offering a unique educational experience in London.

Students will work across the different disciplines of painting, sculpture, drawing and printmaking. Students will have a chance to improve observational drawing skills; try out more expressive sculpture and painting, and learn how to approach the human figure, using a variety of materials and methods.
