An excellent opportunity to work on an individual project in a workshop with an experienced tutor. You will receive tailored guidance from your tutor, theoretical and technical assistance throughout the duration of the course. The course will equip you with the required knowledge, practical skills, and Health and Safety guidance to work with welders, angle grinders and other specialist metal working machinery. You will gain the skills to develop your own sculpture, or series of sculptures within your practice, and receive individual feedback on your work from the tutor.
Open to students who have no experience in metalwork, as well as those who wish to refine their skill set.

Sculpture: Standing Figure
Course Code: EC2302002 Tutor: Laura Postle Course Dates: Tuesdays, 9th January - 26th March 2024 Days: 11 Times: 6:15pm - 8:45pm Experience Level: Ages 18+, Intermediate Fee: £380 Location: Art Academy London, 165A Mermaid Court, SE1 1HR Recommend booking before: Tuesday 19th December 2023 £380.00In this course you will get the opportunity to create an armatured standing figure from life. Gesture and proportion will be the key focus at the start; aiming to capture a likeness of the model, with believable weight and balance. Once this is established the focus will be more on the modelling of forms, creating muscle, flesh and bone. The final 3 weeks will be spent creating a plaster cast of the piece. Whilst creating a full cast of the piece wont be possible in the time, a section or fragment to hang on the wall or fit to a base, will enable students to take a copy of their sculpt home.
