Young Artists – Fine Art Workshop: Latex, Textile and Embroidery

Each day will begin with an introduction to artists who use textiles in their work, to inspire you and contextualise the lessons. In the morning, you will be taught different techniques and in the afternoon, you will apply these techniques to a project (either your own idea or one suggested by the tutor).

Young Artists: Animation Challenge
Course Code: SC2204022 Tutor: Sujay Narayan Course Dates: Monday - Friday, 24th - 28th July 2023 Days: 5 Times: 10.30am - 4.30pm Experience Level: Ages 12-16, All Levels Fee: £365 Location: Art Academy London, 165A Mermaid Court, SE1 1HR £365.00A fun and inspiring four day course for ages 12-16 providing a skills based experience and expert tuition in animation. You will be taught skills in stop motion, 2D drawing for animation and the use of Adobe Creative Suite as an animation tool. The course will be fast, fun and will culminate in a screening of your work to peers and parents. The days will be themed and split into half with the mornings focusing on skills development and the afternoons focusing on making an animation using the skills you have learnt in response to a given theme. You will be encouraged to work in groups and on your own and to challenge and respond to ideas and new skills in an enjoyable and creative space.

Zines allow you to create personal stories and have lots of fun! On this one-week course you will experiment with different ways of imagining and creating stories, exploring a variety of genres. You will learn to draw and develop appealing characters and experiment with comic formats like composition, layouts and text, whilst using different materials. By the end of the week you will have developed a range of skills which will set you up on your career as a comic zine artist! And one with a range of your own unique comic zines!

If you join this course you will plan and execute a group exhibition in a dedicated gallery space over the course of two months. It’s an ambitious goal and you will be supported by experienced tutors to push your artwork and develop your ideas. As a group you will choose a theme and everyone will create new work to display together. During our final session we will host a private view for your friends and family to come and celebrate your creativity.
