Tutor - Painting & Drawing
Alison Hand MA
Alison Hand graduated from the Royal College of Art with an MA in Painting, and has exhibited across London, the UK, Germany and Hong Kong. Hand’s practice explores the representation of landscape and architecture, particularly narratives of regeneration and improvement. She approaches painting with a language of fragmentation and hard materiality interacting with illusory depth. Hand’s work has won numerous awards including the Basil Alkazzi Scholarship Award; the Painters’ and Stainers’ Gordon Luton Award; and the Stevenson Harwood Award. Hand is a published art writer, with commissions ranging from Blueprint to Abstract Critical. From 2008-2012 she was a Board Director for Artgene in Cumbria, and also undertook doctoral research into art and architecture at the Bartlett School of Architecture, UCL. Hand also works with architecture teams on building projects. Hand teaches studio practice, painting and drawing modules, and is Head of Level 3 Diploma.
