Tutor - Sculpture & 3D
Anthony Waters
Anthony makes artworks which explore movement and “aliveness” through an energetic interaction with a variety of media. Apart from being an end in itself, figurative work and studies from nature are sometimes the starting point for the development of more abstract sculptures and paintings. This is often inspired by existing stories, myths and folklore – seeking new expressions of timeless themes. All aspects of the sculptural process and the changes of state involved in production contribute creatively to what is made. Recently alongside portrait commissions he has been a member of the Kiln Rooms, developing freeform sculpture utilising a range of clays, glazes and firing techniques. Shows over the last year include the Chelsea Arts Society annual show, Morley Bronzes exhibition, Kiln Rooms Summer open studios and “Surface” a shop-based exhibition of ceramic art & sculpture.
