This course focuses on photographic techniques in printmaking, combining traditional techniques such as aquatint with the more modern elements of intaglio printing such as photopolymer plates. You will learn to expose and develop autographic (drawn and painted) and digitally generated/photographic images with various different types of metal plates.
Throughout the course we will be talking through your ideas, gaining the understanding of your individual creative process and maximising your ability to produce more technically advanced and developed artwork. During the second half of the course you will plan a self-led project using both technical and conceptual ideas to produce a small finished print edition.

This course is suitable for all levels. Students can move at their own pace depending on their experience, with as much support from the Tutor as they wish. This means an student from the following experience levels can join this course:
Choose a Beginners course if you are looking for a broad introduction to the medium you are studying. Our Beginner courses are suitable for students with no prior experience.
Choose a Beginner + course if you are looking to hone your skills, focus on a specific subject area and build your confidence. These courses are suitable for those with some basic skills in and knowledge of the taught medium.
Our Intermediate courses are suitable for students who have considerable prior knowledge of the taught medium or have completed a Beginners/Beginners + course with the Art Academy.
Choose our Advanced courses if you have considerable knowledge in the taught medium. You are expected to be able to work independently and have critical discussions around your work.All Levels

Students need to ensure that they have all the materials and technical equipment needed available from the first lesson.
The lessons will be facilitated through Google Meets. Please ensure your computer/laptop/smart phone is set-up prior to the first lesson.
You must ensure you have a Google Account ahead of your course, if you do not have one these are free and easy to setup. Please follow instructions here on how to setup.

Following a First Class Honours Degree in Illustration from Middlesex University in 2007 Frederic Morris went on to study Fine Art Printmaking at the Royal College of Art, where he received his MA in 2009. Frederic has shown continuously throughout the globe and has picked up numerous prizes for his printmaking and drawing skills. He is represented by Pratt Contemporary.

Bankside Campus
Students are welcome to use The Hub during break times, where you can prepare hot drinks and/or food. You must bring your own keep-cup, water bottle or food container to the Academy as mugs, glasses, and containers will not be available in our Bankside campus.
Tea and coffee will be provided by the Academy and is available from the island unit at the end of The Hub.
