This two-day course is designed for those ready to build on their sculptural skills and expand their knowledge of a range of materials. Working directly from a life model, you’ll explore the expressive potential of the human form and begin developing your own sculptural language. With expert guidance, you’ll have the opportunity to create both observational and more imaginative works.
Sessions will cover:
– Figure sculpting in clay
– Relief casting in plaster
– Wire armature building
– Material exploration
– Tool handling and safety
By the end of the weekend, you’ll have created several small-scale sculptures and a relief piece, and gained practical knowledge of how different sculptural materials behave. This course is ideal for students with some prior experience in sculpture or related disciplines who are looking to extend their skills. Teaching is delivered through live demonstration, hands-on making, and one-to-one feedback, allowing you to go at your own pace while being encouraged to take creative risks.
After completing this course, you may want to attend one of our weekly sculpture courses such as Figurative Sculpture in Clay.
