Develop skills in anatomy, proportion, and gesture in this sculpting course for those with previous experience in the medium. Working from a life model, you will combine thoughtful observation with hands-on practice to create a fully reclined figure in clay. Throughout the course, you will explore:
– Observing and translating the complexities of relaxed postures into clay.
– Light, shadow, and over- and under-modelling techniques to enhance focus and depth.
– Refining details to distinguish between soft, fleshy forms and structural edges.
– Sculpting relaxed limbs and understanding the subtle shifts in hands and feet when not bearing weight.
– Working from multiple perspectives to capture the figure’s core elements.
This course offers expert guidance in a well-equipped studio setting, with the opportunity to have your work fired at the end of the course.
On completion, we recommend signing up to one of our Sculpture evening courses to further develop your skills.
