London Design Festival workshop with Beñat Olaberria, Friday 20th September 2pm – 4pm

In this dynamic and interactive workshop, participants will have the opportunity to create a modern interpretation of a myriorama, a 19th-century set of illustrated cards that could be arranged in countless ways to form different panoramic scenes. Drawing inspiration from the rich architectural landscape of London’s Bankside area, each participant will contribute a unique abstract painting that will become part of a larger, collaborative composition.

Workshop Objectives:
– Explore Abstraction and Composition: Participants will engage with abstract art techniques, focusing on how to represent and distill the essence of the urban environment into shapes, colours, and forms.
– Respond to the Urban Landscape: Using the surrounding architecture, shapes, shadows, and other visual elements of the Bankside area as inspiration, participants will create art that reflects and transforms their observations.
– Collaborative Creation: While each painting will be an autonomous work of art, it will also function as a piece of a larger, flexible composition with multiple possibilities for arrangement, reflecting the spirit of the original myriorama.
