This course welcomes students of all levels to the creative possibilities of Lino Etching. It teaches a more gestural approach to lino printmaking, combining the classical skill of carving a lino block with etching its surface with caustic soda, bringing together painterly textures and graphic forms in a colourful multi-block print.

This popular course is ideal for beginners or repeat attendees. The studio is a low-toxic environment with dedicated printmaking facilities for professional hands-on learning. Once you have completed the course we recommend signing up to one of our other Printmaking courses to learn a new technique, or join us for Open Access sessions on Wednesday evening and Saturdays during the day, giving you the opportunity to further develop your printmaking skills.

All attendees must be aged 18 and over.
This course is suitable for all levels. Students can move at their own pace depending on their experience, with as much support from the Tutor as they wish. This means an student from the following experience levels can join this course:
Choose a Beginners course if you are looking for a broad introduction to the medium you are studying. Our Beginner courses are suitable for students with no prior experience.
Choose a Beginner + course if you are looking to hone your skills, focus on a specific subject area and build your confidence. These courses are suitable for those with some basic skills in and knowledge of the taught medium.
Our Intermediate courses are suitable for students who have considerable prior knowledge of the taught medium or have completed a Beginners/Beginners + course with the Art Academy.
Choose our Advanced courses if you have considerable knowledge in the taught medium. You are expected to be able to work independently and have critical discussions around your work.
All materials will be provided for this course.
Stella is an artist printmaker focusing on the interrelationship between society and ecological systems. Her work celebrates nature, responds to the climate and ecological emergency, and proposes new possibilities for sustainable coexistence with the natural world. She specialises in lino cut, with its clear strong graphic qualities, and the innovative technique of etched lino, with its expressive and loose mark making. She has exhibited her prints in London and elsewhere in the UK. She teaches printmaking part-time at the Art Academy and is a Print Associate with the Art Academy Print Studio.
