TUTOR: Stella Yarrow

DAYS: 2

This course welcomes students of all levels to the creative possibilities of Lino Etching. It teaches a more gestural approach to lino printmaking, combining the classical skill of carving a lino block with etching its surface with caustic soda, bringing together painterly textures and graphic forms in a colourful multi-block print.

Throughout this course you will learn how to:

  • Design and draw your design onto two linoleum blocks
  • Use a variety of specialist printmaking equipment and materials
  • Plan and stage your prints
  • Use caustic soda to achieve painterly results and combine them with traditional lino cut
  • Use a printing press to make a set of prints

This popular course is ideal for beginners or repeat attendees. The studio is a low-toxic environment with dedicated printmaking facilities for professional hands-on learning. Once you have completed the course we recommend signing up to one of our other Printmaking courses to learn a new technique, or join us for Open Access sessions on Wednesday evening and Saturdays during the day, giving you the opportunity to further develop your printmaking skills.
