This is a fun, day-long taster course in ceramics for those who may be considering a longer Hand Built or Decorative Ceramics course and are wondering how much they will enjoy it. Throughout the day the tutor will lead the class in practical demonstrations and introduce you to working with clay exploring basic ceramics techniques. You will be introduced to hand-building, coiling and basic finishing techniques.
This course is aimed at all levels of experience and offers a wonderful opportunity to try out a variety of hand building techniques. Over the day, students will be introduced to fundamental skills. This is an informative and fun day.
Throughout the day the tutor will lead the class in practical demonstrations to enable students to really understand the skills, materials, and techniques introduced.

All attendees must be aged 18 and over.
Choose a Beginners course if you are looking for a broad introduction to the medium you are studying. Students spend time learning the very basics of the taught medium, for example, how to mix colours, use different tools, set up an easel. Our Beginner courses are suitable for students with no prior experience, they tend to follow a more structured path than our other courses, ensuring each student receives the guidance they need from the tutor.Beginner

Adele Williams runs ceramic courses and workshops across London, and is also a studio potter creating work from Clay collective. Since setting up Clay Collective with a collective of makers in 2016, they have run workshops at Somerset House and Tate Modern.
Students are welcome to use our Common Room during break times, where you can prepare hot drinks and/or food.
