This is a fun day-long taster course in ink drawing for those who would like to try their hand at this versatile medium. We aim to foster the artist as an individual and explore how ink can be used in your drawing practice, in a relaxed, yet stimulating environment.
Throughout the day the tutor will lead the class in hands-on, practical demonstrations to introduce you to the common techniques using inks, and demonstrate the possibilities of different marks and effects, with an emphasis on working tonally and the important planning and sequences needed for a work on paper. Throughout the day you will be encouraged to play and enjoy the application of ink whilst also developing an understanding of ways of working from observation.

All attendees must be aged 18 and over.
Choose a Beginners course if you are looking for a broad introduction to the medium you are studying. Students spend time learning the very basics of the taught medium, for example, how to mix colours, use different tools, set up an easel. Our Beginner courses are suitable for students with no prior experience, they tend to follow a more structured path than our other courses, ensuring each student receives the guidance they need from the tutor.Beginner

Kinga’s subject matter ranges from crows and raw meat, to portraits of family and friends. All of her work attempts to excavate the social, political and economic ideologies by which we are invested and shaped. Kings was recently Digital Artist in Residence at Brent Museum and Archives, part of Being Brent, a community project funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund. Taking the museum collection as her main inspiration, and drawing upon her experience of growing up and living in the area, Kinga created an animated film using charcoal drawings.
