DAYS: 1

TIMES: 10:00am - 4:30pm

This is an introductory taster course on wheel throwing covering the core skills of centering, and, opening and pulling a small lump of clay (400-500g of clay per pot). You will be introduced to the fundamental skills of making pots on a wheel by creating cylinders and bowls. This taster day is perfect for total beginners or those with a little experience who want to practice the core skills. It is a very messy activity, so wear old clothes and cut nails short.

Your best pots from the day will be fired and glazed after the course, to be collected a couple of weeks later. Learning to use the potters wheel proficiently is a long process – it’s a physical skill and this day course is a fun taster to try your hand at the basic skills and make your very first pots!

Beginner

All attendees must be aged 18 and over.

Choose a Beginners course if you are looking for a broad introduction to the medium you are studying. Students spend time learning the very basics of the taught medium, for example, how to mix colours, use different tools, set up an easel. Our Beginner courses are suitable for students with no prior experience, they tend to follow a more structured path than our other courses, ensuring each student receives the guidance they need from the tutor.

All materials will be provided, please wear clothes you don’t mind getting messy.
