This course aims to enhance visual awareness, increase self-confidence, and provide a stimulating and relaxed environment for drawing and painting. You will develop your ability to capture detail and accuracy in observational drawing, gain proficiency in using different drawing materials and techniques, and complete an acrylic painting working from a life model in the final two weeks of the course.

All attendees must be aged 18 and over.
Choose a Beginners course if you are looking for a broad introduction to the medium you are studying. Students spend time learning the very basics of the taught medium, for example, how to mix colours, use different tools, set up an easel. Our Beginner courses are suitable for students with no prior experience, they tend to follow a more structured path than our other courses, ensuring each student receives the guidance they need from the tutor.Beginner

Eleanor develops precarious and fragile forms through drawing, painting and sculpture. Neither human stand-ins or alien forms, the structures in her work are suspended in balance not only in a physical sense, but also in their existence as inanimate anthropomorphic forms. The work questions the interconnection between personal identity and place. Eleanor spent her formative years in Japan before moving to London. She completed the Drawing Year at the Royal Drawing School in 2008 and the Turps Art School’s Studio Programme in 2018.
