This is the perfect introductory course to Portrait Painting, for those with some painting experience. This well structured course will teach students how to accurately paint a portrait, and the different techniques involved.
The emphasis will be on learning to see form and colour accurately, using a life model, and applying these skills to better create loose, expressive portraits.
The course will cover:
Starting with drawing, students will be taught proportion and how to structure the head. Following on, you will be working with oil paints and develop a series of artworks from short expressive painting sketches, to longer more detailed pieces. As the weeks progress you will also have the option to paint more of the figure if preferred. The class has the benefit of an experienced model every week as well as tuition from a talented professional artist.
After completing this course we recommend joining one of our Advanced Portrait Painting courses to further develop your style.
