A fun and inspiring five day course for ages 12-14 providing a skills based experience and expert tuition in animation. You will be taught skills in stop motion, 2D drawing for animation and the use of Adobe Creative Suite as an animation tool. The course will be fast, fun and will culminate in a screening of your work to peers and parents. The days will be themed and split into half with the mornings focusing on skills development and the afternoons focusing on making an animation using the skills you have learnt in response to a given theme. You will be encouraged to work in groups and on your own and to challenge and respond to ideas and new skills in an enjoyable and creative space.

Throughout the week students will cover the following topics:

  • Storyboarding
  • Stop motion
  • Physical and digital 2D drawing for animation
  • Use of After Effects
  • Shooting techniques and conventions
  • Basic operation of camera
  • Basic editing techniques

Young Artist 12-14

This course is suitable for students between the ages of 12 to 14 and is open to all skill levels.

This course is open to all skill levels for students aged between 15 and 17. This course is open to all skill levels, whether you love art and are looking to advance your artistic skills and creative confidence or are new to the subject and want a bit of an introduction!

Students are advised to bring a Sketchbook, pencils, eraser and black and white pens that they are comfortable to work with, A4 paper folder, and a USB memory stick with them to backup their work. Though there will be the possibility of storing files on the computers we cannot take responsibility for the safekeeping of these files.

SUJAY NARAYAN

Sujay is a director and animator with an MA from the Royal College of Art.

He’s worked on short films, immersive experiences, corporate communication & social stories.

He works in both drawn and digital animation techniques.

Please note that London Bridge has two exits, the most direct route is to follow signs to “Borough High Street”.

We cannot store your bikes at the Academy, however there is on-street bike parking near our Mermaid Court site.

Students are welcome to use our Common Room/ The Barn during break times, where you can prepare hot drinks and/or food.

You are also welcome to make tea or coffee.

Materials & Equipment

  • If you purchased a pack online this will be given to you on the first session of your course upon your arrival. Packs can be booked on our Materials Page or on this page when you book the course
  • Please don’t wear your best clothes as there is always a chance you will get messy. If possible bring an apron or overalls.
  • All artwork at the Academy MUST be taken home at the end of the course or it will be disposed of.
  • Please ensure that your mobile phone is switched off or is on silent during the class.
  • Health and Safety Guidelines will be provided to you a week before the start of your course.
