In this exciting course for ages 15-17, students will experiment with a range of materials including; paints, textiles, plaster casting and mixed-media. This course aims to help students develop a new range of skills and expand their artistic skillset. There will be time for one-to-one guidance and input from the tutor, to further help and encourage students to develop their own ideas and artistic projects.

On the final day students will be able to work on a personal project where they will translate their newfound abilities and ideas into a finished artwork or works in progress using the techniques and media they have been shown.

This course is suitable for students between the ages of 15 to 17 only, and is open to all skill levels.
Please bring old clothes and two jam jars or containers for water. Please also bring a camera/phone to photo document your work.
Preparation for the Personal Project day: students should bring in a range of images of a place, object, or concept, that excites and inspires them, to help develop their personal project.
Usva Inei is a queer, non-binary visual artist, mainly working with topics of lived experiences of immigration and queerness. They primarily work through mixed media installations, with painting and printmaking being central elements of their practice. Usva’s work is critical, political, and feminist, exploring such themes, as identity politics, acculturation, normative structures, and the role of physical space in directing behaviour. In addition to exhibiting their artwork, Usva regularly teaches both on academic and artistic courses, runs various art-based workshops with museums and charities, and is engaged in academic, art-based research. Usva is a Finnish-born Russian immigrant, currently based in London, UK.

Bankside Campus
Students are welcome to use The Hub during break times, where you can prepare hot drinks and/or food. You must bring your own keep-cup, water bottle or food container to the Academy as mugs, glasses, and containers will not be available in our Bankside campus.
Tea and coffee will be provided by the Academy and is available from the island unit at the end of The Hub.
