Privacy & Data Protection Policy
Here at The Art Academy we take your privacy very seriously. We only contact you with information we think may be of interest to you and will not share your data with external parties (except where we have a contract for those parties to process data on our behalf, such as our sever and database hosts, or where there is a lawful basis for doing so; please see section 3 of our Data Protection Policy).
Below you will find a summary of what personal data of yours we store, why we collect it and how we use it. Further detail can be found in our Data Protection Policy and Data Retention & Disposal Policy
How do we collect your data?
We collect your data when you use our website to make a donation or register to receive our newsletter. We will collect your data when you book onto a short course with us, whether this is in person at the office, over the phone, or on our website. We also collect your data if you register an interest in one of our pre-degree or degree programmes, attend an open day, attend an interview or accept a place and become a student with us.
What data is being collected?
If you book a short course with us, the data we collect will include personal information that is necessary for the administration of the short course.
If you make a donation or register to receive our newsletter we will collect only your name and email address.
If you enrol onto a pre-degree or degree programme we will collect a range of personal data necessary for the administration of the programme and compliance with external regulatory bodies (where relevant).
How do we use your data?
Collecting data such as postal addresses, DOB and gender from our short course students helps us better understand who our short course students are and how they interact with us. This will help us enhance or modify our services and communications with you and others. If you study a short course with us we will hold your information for 3 years (after you have completed your short course). This length of time allows us to see changing trends in our customer base.
If you register to receive our newsletter you will receive regular newsletter detailing new courses coming up, exciting Academy news and offers, prizes or competitions that may be of interest to you. If you no longer want to receive our newsletter you can unsubscribe and we will remove your data from our newsletter database.
If you make a donation to us you may receive emails from our Principal detailing what your donation is being used towards or invitations to events we think may be of interest to you E.g. our Graduate Show Private View. You will receive, on average, no more than 6 emails a year. If you do not want to be contacted you can email [email protected] requesting that you receive no emails and that your data is not stored.
If you enrol onto our pre-degree and/or degree programmes, it is contractually necessary that we hold a range of your personal data while you study with us, some of which we will store in perpetuity. Please see our Data Retention & Disposal for further details.
