Jess is painter interested in the line between figuration and abstraction. Her subject matter ranges from portrait to landscape and what brings her practice together is an playfulness that pushes the relationship between structured drawing and loose painting. Her paintings and drawings deal the the every-day of her life – friends, family and familiar places – but rendered in colourful and expressive ways that intensify the experience of the ordinary.

Jess has degrees in both politics and contemporary portraiture and has exhibited widely, including at the Royal Academy Summer exhibition and Royal Institute of Oil Painters annual exhibition. She lives and works in London and is a studio member of the co-operative Lewisham Arthouse.
