This course is designed for students who have either completed our ‘Drawing: Stage 2’ course or already have some experience of drawing and want to take their skills to the next level. Over the course, students will explore:
You will develop a deeper understanding of the drawing process and have time to enhance your drawing skills. Each week focusses on a particular aspect of drawing. Students will explore measurement and gain confidence in drawing a wide variety of subjects including still life, life models, and urban landscapes. Through using different approaches and materials, students will begin to develop a ‘visual vocabulary’ of drawing. You will develop ways to communicate texture, weight, material and surface in your work.
There will be opportunities to work both inside and outside the studio, and in museums and galleries. Working outside of the studio will teach students how to capture movement and figures in space, feeding off the energy of the environment around them. Students will work outside in the ‘real world’, and experience how this produces a different kind of energy in their drawings.
