This course is designed for students who have completed our ‘Drawing for Beginners Plus’ course or are experienced in drawing, wanting to take their skills to the next level. The projects and exercises included in this course will encourage you to push boundaries and develop a deeper understanding of the medium. Throughout the sessions, you will explore a variety of subjects, such as:
You will enhance your ability to capture complex subjects such as the human figure and narrative scenes, improve observational skills and the ability to draw from memory, and advanced drawing techniques and understanding of concepts. This class involves both studio-based work and on-location drawing, offering a rich and diverse learning experience.

All attendees must be aged 18 and over.
Our Intermediate courses are suitable for students who have considerable prior knowledge of the taught medium or have completed a Beginners/Beginners + course with the Art Academy.
These courses tend to be less structured and instead are tailored to the classes’ needs and the direction they want to advance in. Choose an Intermediate course if you are looking to improve your skills and have more critical discussions around the work you produce.Intermediate
You will need to bring your own drawing materials to the class and these materials must be taken with you at the end of each session. If you do not have your own materials, we recommend you order the Pack, below, at the time of booking, which will be available when you arrive for your first class. There is also a mini shop in the Academy that supplies the basics such as pencils, sketchbooks, putty rubbers etc. (card purchases only).
Please also bring an apron or old clothing to wear.

Zoe Toolan is a multidisciplinary artist from the north, now living in Brighton. Social interaction, the nature of experience and our relationship with ‘things’ are recurring explorations within her practice, and she regards any workshop/event she hosts in her role as art tutor/whisky professional as a time-based, participatory happening. Her live art projects have been shown at various locations including Secret Garden Party, she has a piece in the Sluice_ archive, and she has completed design commissions for various bodies including Oxfam.

Bankside Campus
Students are welcome to use The Hub during break times, where you can prepare hot drinks and/or food. You must bring your own keep-cup, water bottle or food container to the Academy as mugs, glasses, and containers will not be available in our Bankside campus.
Tea and coffee will be provided by the Academy and is available from the island unit at the end of The Hub.
