LOCATION: Mermaid Court Campus, 165A Mermaid Court, SE1 1HR

In this exciting figure painting weekend course, under the Tuition of Charlie Pickard, students will tackle the most challenging and important academic subject to master: the human figure. Over the weekend you will create a painting that studies the model from life for a 2-day pose. Suitable for those who understand the principles of painting in oils and are looking to further develop their work, students will look at the following in relation to the figure:

  • Proportions
  • Form and structure
  • Colour (involving colour mixing principles)
  • Light and shadow
  • Surfaces

Critiques will be focused on achieving a high level of academic accuracy, building a strong foundation that will aid in all further artwork. Charlie Pickard will also demonstrate a painting alongside students, using a direct painting method.

Beginner +

All attendees must be aged 18 and over.

Choose a Beginner + course if you are looking to hone your skills, focus on a specific subject area and build your confidence. These courses are suitable for those with some basic skills in and knowledge of the taught medium, but still follow a structured path with guidance from the tutor.
