If you are interested in learning to sculpt the human figure then this is an ideal class for you. You have the opportunity to explore both the full figure and a portrait head sculpture, using a different model for each.
For the first half of the course you will concentrate on sculpting a full figure from a set pose with a life model. In the second half of the course you will focus on sculpting a portrait head with a different model. This course gives students a flavour of the challenges and thrills of both of these disciplines.
We would recommend this course to students who want to concentrate on learning the basics of Portrait and Figure sculpting, and who have some experience in working with clay.
Throughout the course you will learn:
There is the option to hollow and fire your pieces at the end of the course. Please note that there is an additional cost for hollowing and firing of clay sculptures.

Anthony Waters has a diploma in sculpture from Heatherley’s College and in 2016 graduated from the Art Academy Certificate programme. Previous to this he worked as a graphic designer and seeks to make work which crosses the boundaries between 2D & 3D, figurative and abstract, exploring materiality and the processes involved in producing sculptural work. He won the prize for best non-member newcomer for the FACE exhibition, Society of Portrait Sculptors in 2016 and was a joint winner of the Surrey Sculpture prize the same year.
Farnoush is an Iranian artist who lives and works in London. She graduated from the Art Academy London in 2019. She aims to question the divisions created by religion, politics and cultural differences. Exploring material language and connections to her chosen subject are her main focus. She extensively researches her ideas through documentary footage, articles and photos. Her works have been exhibited internationally. She is a twice winner of Sheros Revoluciones in 2019/2020 and People’s Choice Award in 2019 by Passion For Freedom Art Festival. She was elected as a member of the Royal Society of Sculptors in 2020.
