Capture the intricate details of the human face and the flowing textures of drapery in this immersive sculpting course, designed for those with some prior experience with the medium. An experienced tutor will guide you through emphasising both anatomical accuracy and expressive detail. Throughout this course, you will cover:
– Establishing the portrait profile
– The development of structural depths of the face
– Building widths and volumes
– Sculpture refinement by analysing varied angles and three-quarter views
– The effect of light and shadow on form
– The behaviour of drapery, capturing gesture, folds, and mass
This course will enable you to build confidence when sculpting the complexity of fabric and develop a deeper understanding of facial anatomy. You will balance structural accuracy with expressive detail.
After completing this course, we recommend signing up to one of our Sculpture Masterclasses.

Our Intermediate courses are suitable for students who have considerable prior knowledge of the taught medium or have completed a Beginners/Beginners + course with the Art Academy.
These courses tend to be less structured and instead are tailored to the classes’ needs and the direction they want to advance in. Choose an Intermediate course if you are looking to improve your skills and have more critical discussions around the work you produce.Intermediate
