This engaging weekend course will guide you through the fundamental techniques that are used to create a Portrait Sculpture. The skills you learn throughout both sessions will help you understand how to examine the head from all angles. You will use drawings to assist the sculptural process and by observing the model throughout the week, you will gradually build on your piece and learn how to:

These courses are suitable for those with some basic skills in and knowledge of the taught medium, but still follow a structured path with guidance from the tutor.Beginner +

Hollowing fees:
£15 for a small figure; £20 for a portrait head; £20 for a large figure
Firing Fees:
During the second half of the course there will be an additional charge for metal wire. The cost will depend on the amount of wire used.
Anthony Waters has a diploma in sculpture from Heatherley’s College and in 2016 graduated from the Art Academy Certificate programme. Previous to this he worked as a graphic designer and seeks to make work which crosses the boundaries between 2D & 3D, figurative and abstract, exploring materiality and the processes involved in producing sculptural work.
He won the prize for best non-member newcomer for the FACE exhibition, Society of Portrait Sculptors in 2016 and was a joint winner of the Surrey Sculpture prize the same year. expression. Bankside Campus
Students are welcome to use The Hub during break times, where you can prepare hot drinks and/or food. You must bring your own keep-cup, water bottle or food container to the Academy as mugs, glasses, and containers will not be available in our Bankside campus.
Tea and coffee will be provided by the Academy and is available from the island unit at the end of The Hub.
