This intensive Photopolymer Etching course is designed for artists, printmakers, and enthusiasts who want to explore the process of transferring photographic or hand-drawn images onto photopolymer plates for intaglio printing. Participants will learn step-by-step techniques, from preparing plates to printing final images, gaining hands-on experience in a professional studio environment. Throughout the course, you will:
This course is suitable for beginners, experienced printmakers wanting to expand their etching techniques, and artists looking to incorporate photographic imagery into their prints.
Once you have completed the course we recommend signing up to one of our other Printmaking courses to learn a new technique, or join us for Open Access sessions on Tuesday evenings and Saturday daytimes, giving you the opportunity to further develop your printmaking skills. After completing this course students will be given one free Open Access session.

This course is suitable for all levels. Students can move at their own pace depending on their experience, with as much support from the Tutor as they wish. This means an student from the following experience levels can join this course:
Choose a Beginners course if you are looking for a broad introduction to the medium you are studying. Our Beginner courses are suitable for students with no prior experience.
Choose a Beginner + course if you are looking to hone your skills, focus on a specific subject area and build your confidence. These courses are suitable for those with some basic skills in and knowledge of the taught medium.
Our Intermediate courses are suitable for students who have considerable prior knowledge of the taught medium or have completed a Beginners/Beginners + course with the Art Academy.
Choose our Advanced courses if you have considerable knowledge in the taught medium. You are expected to be able to work independently and have critical discussions around your work.All Levels

Temsüyanger Longkumer is a London-based interdisciplinary artist working in media including drawing, installations, printmaking, and time-based art. His work explores subjects ranging from the flux of contemporary culture and politics to ideas conceived serendipitously.
Temsü has an MA in Printmaking from the Royal College of Art, he has exhibited widely including at the Museum der Kulturen, Basel, Pitt Rivers Museum, Oxford, India International Centre, New Delhi, the Horniman Museum, London, Kochi Biennale, and the Singapore Biennale. A recipient of multiple international awards and scholarships, he has held residencies at the Fondazione Pistoletto, Italy, Lalit Kala Akademi, India, Pepperton UK, London, Cite International Des Arts, Paris, and Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology, Cambridge where he is currently the Artist in Resident.
Temsü also works at Paupers Press, a fine art print and publishing studio that collaborate with many leading contemporary artists such as Bill Viola, Brian Eno, Cornelia Parker, Damien Hirst, Glenn Brown, Grayson Berry, Jake and Dinos Chapman, Paula Rego, Peter Blake and Rachel Whiteread.

Bankside Campus
Students are welcome to use The Hub during break times, where you can prepare hot drinks and/or food. You must bring your own keep-cup, water bottle or food container to the Academy as mugs, glasses, and containers will not be available in our Bankside campus.
Tea and coffee will be provided by the Academy and is available from the island unit at the end of The Hub.
